Ever felt like you're invisible to the entire male race unless you're wearing stilettos? Turns out there's a reason for that. A new French study has shown that men are more likely to approach women wearing high heels rather than flats.
The, slightly dubious, study carried out various situational experiments using women wearing flats, 2 inch and 3.5 inch high heels. Aside from the varying heel heights, the shoes and the models all looked similar, and wearing the same outfits.

The results? If you're doing a survey, a man is more likely to stop and answer your questions if you're wearing high heels. If you drop your glove, a man is more likely to pick it up if you're wearing - you guessed it - high heels. If you're sitting alone in a bar, yep, a guy is more likely to come over and try to get cosy if you're wearing heels.
The tests also included women, and they found that we are completely unaffacted by whether women are wearing high heels or not. It's almost as if we want to help others if they actually need help - without pausing to whip out a mental tape measure and size up their stilettos. Weird that?
Our conclusion of the study was, quite frankly, that we couldn't really give a toss what guys think we should wear - and if that means us picking up our own glove we're cool with that. But it did make us discuss how much we like our flats. They don't squish your feet, make your back ache, and we don't have to deal with french men approaching us in bars.
