If you’re a young model then walking in a Prada show is a golden ticket to career success – just ask Lindsey Wixson who hit the big-time when she did just that back in spring 2010, aged just 15. Miuccia Prada is as good at calling which girls you’re gonna love as she is at sneaking new ideas into your wardrobe, it seems.
That in mind, you’ll want to have fourteen-year-old Dutch model Roos Abel, on your radar after she modelled Prada’s granny-chic new collection in last week’s SS15 show.
We hear you – FOUR-teen? – it’s pretty young considering you’re likely to be at least double that age before you can afford to even sniff at anything that’s come off the catwalk, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America have been pushing for years to discourage designers from casting anyone under the age of 16 in order to comply with underage labour laws. Being a professional beautiful person tends to involve more hours than your average Saturday job.

The fashion industry, Miuccia Prada in particular, is generally a bit ¯_(ツ)_/¯ about the idea, though, and the fact that plenty of the young girls she’s cast, including Wixson and actress Hailee Steinfeld, who controversially appeared in a Miu Miu campaign when she was the same age as Abels, have gone on to massive things, doesn’t do much to prove her wrong.
Even Kate Moss recalling that she felt uncomfortable in those infamous Calvin Klein adverts with Mark Wahlberg, shot when she was 14, hasn’t done much to keep the young’uns out of the limelight a little bit longer. You know it’s only time before Lily-Rose Depp, 15-year-old daughter of Johnny and Vanessa Paradis, who is about to star in new film, Yoga Hosers, lands herself a fashion campaign.
Not much is know about Roos Abels yet, and her Instagram remains private, no doubt so that she can dick around on social media like everyone else her age without the scornful glare of fame. But we do know she’s a hit on the fashion forums and would be first in line to play fellow Dutch mega-babe model Lara Stone’s little sister, should there ever be a need, and if that’s not a recipe for success, then what is?
