Snow-filled London scenes, empty champagne glasses, tonnes of Burberry boxes and Romeo Beckham as Santa Claus… we'd certainly like our Christmas to look like the one Burberry have imagined up. (Instead of stress-filled & including a long sweaty train journey home.)
The fashion brand unveiled their first ever big festive advert tonight in the Regent Street store and amongst the trench coats and classic check scarves, the Beckham clan all turned out to support their burgeoning model son Romeo. Dressed in a dapper suit and bow tie (Burberry, what else?) dad David shepherded the star of the show into the party – not that he looked like he needed looking after.
At just 12, Romeo's already got one Burberry ad campaign under his belt – last Spring he starred alongside Cara Delevingne – and in this festive ad campaign he looks perfectly at ease showing off his footballing and dancing skills (both strong, FYI). The short film tells the story of Romeo delivering the gift of love to one very happy couple, before kicking up snow and adventuring through a magical world filled with everything the young tween might find under the Beckham family Christmas tree, from posh make-up for Victoria to dapper suits for dad David.
With scarves, coats, umbrellas and a dreamy soundtrack from British musician Ed Harcourt, it's a foolproof way to get you in the mood for Christmas. Even if you are normally cyncial about these kind of festive ads. After family Beckham watched the premiere from a balcony of the Regent Street store even never-knowingly-smiling Victoria leaned across to give her son Romeo a congratulatory kiss on the cheek. Cue major awws.
Burberry's CEO Christopher Bailey said the youngster had great 'charm, style and energy' during the campaign – all of which makes us think that maybe, just maybe, despite the way it could have turned out, the Beckham kids are surprisingly well brought up. Mind you – we already kind of know that from Romeo's brother Brooklyn's Vine account right? Still genius!
