Roksanda Ilincic paid tribute to her friend and the late fashion designer Richard Nicoll in her Autumn Winter 2017 show at London Fashion Week, by incorporating the ‘Nicoll Blue’ pantone shade created in his memory.

Friends and family of Richard Nicoll, who tragically passed away at age 39 due to a heart attack last October, collaborated with Pantone Institute to develop a colour in his honour – a soft blue to commemorate his use of blue in his collections.

‘Richard was a designer whose talent and character inspired all around him,’ said fashion writer Sarah Mower. ‘He registered his affinity for the spectrum of blues hundreds of times in the collections he showed in London.

The Nicoll Blue shade was used in the run-up to this year’s London Fashion Week, where it was the colour used on the entrance to the British Fashion Council’s showspace.

Friend of the designer Roksanda Illinic then paid tribute to Nicoll by using the blue shade throughout her Autumn Winter 2017 show.

'The visual presence of Nicoll Blue through the main fashion week venue is a way to remember and celebrate the great London friend and to convert our respects and eternal gratitude to his family,’ said Sarah Mower.
