The limited-edition Rihanna X Manolo Blahnik collection launched last week, and despite sky-high prices (and heels) – demand has been high.
The brand’s dedicated microsite has even crashed several times due to the increase in traffic.
Just 400 pairs of the collection were stocked in London, New York and Hong Kong branches of Blahnik, with special orders available online with sketches signed by the singer and the shoe designer.
While the brand will not disclose sales figures, Kristina Blahnik reports to WWD that sales have been “steady and constant” worldwide.
“Which is what we expected of a luxury, high-value product and the more-considered purchaser. In fact, when we went live on our microsite, it crashed a few times. It was all up and running again, but the volume of traffic was so high that it has taken us a little bit aback.”
The denim-themed collection features thigh-high boots and sequined sandals, and prices range from £650 to £2,950.
