Rihanna’s New Styling Trick Is A Breath Of Fresh Air

We can all agree, Rihanna is beguiling, her music is insatiable and her fashion sense untouchable. One minute, she’s serving up Hollywood glamour and the next an avant-garde ensemble from Comme Des Garcon. Though she’s a risk-taker, unafraid to wear the seemingly unwearable and brazen enough to stomp a red carpet in a thong and a gossamer of crystals, her idiosyncratic sense of style is instantly recognisable. For instance, she’s been a longtime fan of oversized outerwear, zany sunglasses and micro bags. In recent weeks we’ve noticed a new styling trick has been added to this list of Bad Gal go-to's. It’s simple and flattering, yet the utter opposite of what everyone else is doing. Go figure.

Rihanna-1

Over the last month, the Barbadian singer has had a lifetime’s worth of fashion moments, but every single one has the same directional slant. From wearing a Fenty x Puma fishtail hemmed parka at a store launch in LA, to turning up unannounced in a Dior Haute Couture cream taffeta coat and strapless dress at Cannes, to rocking a Juun J menswear shirt as a dress at a bash in Hollywood, every outfit she’s worn has drawn a spotlight to her collarbone.

While Instagram girls are all in a tangle with their esoteric layers of gold chain necklaces, RiRi has taken to wearing a host of mesmerising diamond chokers and simple single chain necklaces. She’s been styling them with shirts that drip off her shoulders, blazers that draw to a neat V above her bustline and chest skimming Bardot necklines, which all do their most to make the clavicle sing. It’s an elegant and uncomplicated styling trick and one we’ll be stealing. Rejoice, no more hours spent unsnarling gold chain knots!
