Move over Paris and Milan, it's all about Berlin Fashion Week now guys, which starts today. Forget the elitest crap that surrounds other fashion weeks - Berlin is much more on our level - it's all about getting stuck in and seeing new, cool, energetic fashion that doesn't require thousands of pounds and a chauffeur.
Berlin is a whole hoo-ha of shows, presentations, and hundreds of thousands of stylish peeps flooding the city to be spotted in the coolest of street style shots. Want to know why it should be plastered all over your instagram feed? Here's our tick list of all the Berlin-y things that should be on your radar this week.
There Are Some Awesome Designers Showing
British designer Charlotte Ronson (yes, Mark's sister - keep up) opened the week of shows today, making her Berlin debut with a collection packed full of pale pastels and summer shorts with whopping big polka dots that we want to wear all summer. You should be following the official Mercedes Benz Instagram account (Berlin is now sponsored by a biggie) to see pics from the runway and check out #MBFW on Twitter to see the usual fashion week snaps, vids and backstage coverage of all the shows.
There Are The Indiest Shops
Some accessories, like glasses, are so hard to find in the UK - there aren't as many stylish and unusual options here as there are in cool cities like Copenhagen and Berlin. Check out Lunettes - this indie hot spot is awesome for unique looking specs. Another fave is this vintage goldmine - Sing Blackbird - not only does it have a Vegan cafe, but they organise monthly fleamarkets and movie screenings. HOW COOL is that?!
The Coolest Bloggers Will Be There
Street style at the powerhouse fashion weeks can be a bit predictable - take one editor, add one Dior handbag, one of Isabel Marant's latest runway pieces and a pair of Valentino shoes and you've got your pic. Possibly several hundred times. But at Berlin, the likes of blogger/photographer Marlen Stahlhuth (the kooky creative behind blog Paperboats.me) and stylist Dana Roski (the babe who set up German e-store Wald) will be wandering around wearing mind-blowing combos of stuff you've never seen before.
You're Bound To Spot Some Celebs
If you thought celebs would swerve Berlin because it's not major enough on the fashion calendar, you're wrong - these days you're likely to spot Rita Ora on the frow (last year she rocked up with dip dyed hair - Berlin is the perfect place to unveil kooky tresses).
