Once a 90's staple (oh, hi Joey Potter), the denim jacket has made a blistering comeback; and for good reason, we might add. How did we ever forget its omnipotence? For starters, is there anything a denim jacket doesn't go with? And secondly, the many, many incarnations of a denim jacket and the myriad ways to wear one, means that even if the humble indigo crop denim isn't for you, you'll find one that is - and a good way to rock it this spring.
Here are a few suggestions to save you some brain space:
1. Wear a denim jacket under a trench coat
How to get around the fact that the weather isn't quite cold enough for a 'coat coat' anymore? Take 2 pieces of outwear which are not known for being remotely insulating and turn them into something warm. Layer a cropped denim jacket under a belted trench coat and you make both items look a bit cooler than their regular, classic origins. Separate yourself from the Boden mums also embracing a breton top and trench coat by opting for some mega cuffed jeans.

2. Also, try a collar-less one
And not only that, try a white one too. White denim jackets are a supercool version of the denim jacket and a collar-less frayed one pays homage to the coolest denim duo out there right now, Marques Almeida. Pair it with a white lacy top best definined as 'boho' and you've got a white-on-white look with an original edge.

**3. And do use it to do double denim **
Double denim isn't just about jeans and a shirt. Try a denim shirt under a denim jacket, instead. The key is in the proportions; go large, or go small, with both parts. So in this occasion, make sure the shirt is soft (stiff won't work) and slim-line rather than oversized, with a fitted denim jacket. But if you fancy the borrow-from-the-boys look, then go for an oversized vintage shirt and denim jacket, with the sleeves rolled up. Works, right?

4. Lastly, have fun with it
No-one ever signed a treatise in a denim jacket. Take it as God intended and have fun in a printed one. This sunflower printed one is calling out for a gingham crop top and a Leon-esque choker. You're in your twenties, trust us when we say that this is the best time to wear this get-up.
