It was, by far, the most royal case of 'mini me' dressing.
For the king’s coronation, Princess Charlotte, 8, arrived at Westminster Abbey in a bespoke creation by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen – a dialled-down version of her mother’s gown.
The eight-year-old’s get-up comprised of the same elements as her mother’s: a dress and matching cape made from ivory silk crepe, with embroidery featuring daffodils, thistles, roses and shamrock motifs to represent the four nations of the United Kingdom.
Her headpiece, too, mirrored the Princess Of Wales’s, which was a collaboration between milliner Jess Collett and Alexander McQueen, made from crystals and silver bullion.
This marks a milestone for the young princess as she makes her debut in ceremonial dress, designed specifically for her grandfather’s coronation. Her brother, the five-year-old Prince Louis, also appeared in his first ceremonial outfit. He wore a Hainsworth Garter blue doeskin tunic by Savile Row tailor Dege & Skinner.
