If you’re not big into the sales (who wouldn’t want to sift through a rail of things not in any size order, with foundation all over the collars?) then you might feel like summer is a shopping no-mans land.
Cue Pre-fall – the season that comes after spring/summer, and before autumn/winter. In the designer clothing world, that means a slightly more wearable (and therefore less expensive) collection that starts landing in stores in July, and stays there as late as November. But this year (and here’s where shit gets really interesting) the high street has cottoned on, with some of our favourite brands turning out their own trans-seasonal collections – lots of which tap into key autumn/winter 15 trends early.
So, for all you keen beans out there, here are the best pre-fall buys on the high street.
The New Crop
A slightly cropped kickflare. Actually pretty flattering, since they’re cropped to show off your ankle (racy), and good for showing off a fun shoe – more on that next.
Jeans, £40, Monki
The Ankle Boot
It’s the hottest comeback since Zayn Malik. The ankle boot is all over the shop – literally – be he patchwork, velvet, suede or metallic.
Boots, £99, Topshop
Knitwear As Clothing
Yes, I know that knitwear IS clothing. But these are statement knits - expect knitted trousers, dresses, matching sets. Avoid moths at all costs.
Dress, £110, Whistles
The 70s Throwback
A lorra lorra suede and fringing, yes, but also - the lurex rollneck. Ding ding ding!
Rollneck, £30, Asos
The Colour: Camel
All of the things should be camel. Layer it up until you look like a Werther’s Original (that means you’re doing it right).
Bag, £19.99, Stradivarious
The Blouse
Gird your loins – the blouses are coming. Shoestring ties, pussy bows, high-necked Victoriana… take your pick.
Blouse, £22, Dorothy Perkins
The Mary Jane
I know, right? Go on, try it with a sock – you might like it.
Shoes, £45, River Island
