Fitness should be inclusive. But then, anyone with curves will understand that finding comfortable gym gear is enough pain to skip working out all together. A stylish, well-fitting sports bra if you’re an E cup? Pffft. Leggings if you’re size 16 or over? Don’t even get us started.
But sportswear giant, Nike, have sent a message that brands need to start catering to all women – as they launch their first ever plus-size range for women. As part of the campaign influencers - including Danielle Vanier, Grace Victory and Naomi Shimada - were cast to model the collection.
The new active wear line, with sizes going from XL up to XXL, features super-cool workout gear - from high-tech hoodies and luxe running leggings to athleisure. In a statement, Nike said the product range ‘will continue to expand to ensure there is a perfect fit for every athlete.’
Adding: ‘In today's world, sport is no longer something that she does, it's who she is. The days where we have to add 'female' before 'athlete' are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes' diversity, from ethnicity to body shape.’
