How much is too much to spend on a dress from Next? That is the question we are asking ourselves today as the high street shop launches a new luxe spin-off called Label/Mix.
What’s with the name, you ask? This new range is a collaboration between the brand’s creative director Gemma Metheringham and some of the hottest names in fashion right now. They’ve enlisted Rejina Pyo who is known for dressing the likes of Laura Jackson (on her wedding day no least) and Pandora Sykes. London favourite Teatum Jones is on board as is Singapore-label Whole9Yards who Self-Portrait fans will like. Similar to H&M’s famous collabs, this an accessible way of buying into the nuanced look of covetable designers whose price points are usually a stretch too far.

Though there are directional pieces to be found, by and large, the look puts wearability on a pedestal. Practicality and functionality don't come at the cost of design.
The first drop of the collection includes 93 pieces includes cosy knitwear, statement coats and party dresses. However, it doesn’t come cheap. A red lace dress that costs a whopping £399 has caught the eye of the press (obviously), but being Next there are still bargains to be found, like fluffy bobble hats from £35 and knitted dresses at around £110. Be warned though as the Next thing you know you’ll be splurging on £328 bag or £285 top from the high street retailer.
Here’s an edit of our five favourite pieces from Label/Mix:
Mix/Rejina Pyo, Belted Coat, £250
