Here’s How New York Fashion Week Will Infiltrate Your Wardrobe

We've sifted through the catwalk looks from NYC to find the trends that you can start wearing, like, tomorrow

After six days of snow, North West kicking off at Anna Wintour, wheelchairs on the catwalk, and a million coats and sequinned things prancing down the runways, the whizz bang pop of New York Fashion week mania has come to a close. Which means only two days until London's turn does little excited dance. But before we get carried away about the weekend, we want to stop and think about what the NYC AW15 shows have taught us about getting dressed for winter. Which, in case you haven't noticed, it still is. More or less. Instead of looking at the shows and wondering about how you're going to wear all this stuff next autumn (I mean what real person with a job and a social life and piles of washing on their bedroom floor actually thinks that far ahead, really?) why not take a look at the best catwalk inspo you can start chanelling now, while it's still pretty damn cold.

You Need A Bum Bag And A Beret. Yes, Seriously.

According to the unspoken Fashion Week by-laws,which say Marc Jacobs sets the main trend of every season, it's entirely reasonable to accept that we should all be going out to buy a bumbag and a beret. The Marc by Marc Jacobs show, now in its third season of being designed by bad-ass Brit duo Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley, was a strong one yesterday with the clothes literally shouting about feminism, female solidarity and our future. The clever bit came from the graphic slogans and minimalist accessories being jumbled together with antique-looking William Morris prints and brothel creepers with bows.

Parkas Are The Coat Of Choice Again

Say parka to me, and I wrinkle my nose. I've never liked them. They remind me of Oasis and park benches, and always will. But check out this DVF 'parka'. I'm loathed to even let the word be used to describe it, as it's the most decadent 'parka' I've ever seen, and sets a whole new vibe for the most casj of casj coats. You will want a printed style in dark, rich colours, with faux fur around the hood - just anything more luxe looking than the standard issue murky green. Sorry, parka lovers. And Oasis lovers. You're going to have to scrub up.

Multi-Coloured Sequins Are A Thing

Something inside me jiggles with joy when a designer does something cool with sequins, because they're my favourite thing on earth and it's my life mission to convince people they're awesome, not naff. And OMG look at this J Crew blazer. It wasn't just J crew though, Rodarte had a tiny troop of cocktail dresses dripping in rainbow sequins, and I'm predicting we're going to see a whole lot more of them at LFW, you mark my words, matte-loving naysayers.

**Skimpy, Sexy Stuff Is Back **

Victoria Beckham's collection was hailed as a whole lot sexier this season, and we've seen the same theme across other shows too, with the barely-there take-me-now dress being back in business at Rodarte. Remember Carrie Bradshaw's naked dress? That's the vibe you're going for. This saturday night think skinny straps, short hemline, here's-my-body-on-a-plate-and-so-what, kind of vibe.

Neon Is Soooo Right Now

Rag & Bone paired a neon yellow sweater with unusual colours that you don't normally find paired with highlighter shades - all navy blue and rusty browns - but somehow it worked and made us want to wear neon under everything. If you've got a neon jumper then you need to start wearing it again, or if you only have a T shirt (neon tends to be used more for summery stuff) then layer it over a white shirt.

Capes Are Cool

Tommy Hilfiger had some really cool football inspired T shirts that we want to kick back in, but there were also some amazing capes that made us think that capes might actually be wearable outside of Hogwarts. There were tonnes of fashion babes wandering around NYC wearing them too, from Alexa to Amal Clooney. Dig around your local charity shops and vintage stores to see if you can find an old, authentic looking one that has a story behind it. Capes are meant to look a big magic, after all.
