The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is almost here and, if you’re anything like us, you probably spent Sunday scrolling through an endless Instagram feed of models boarding the Angel jet to Paris. Life envy aside, what’s refreshing about this year’s 54-strong model line-up is that some of the newest VS faces don’t fit the typical long glossy hair/Caucasian/Brazilian mould, with the brand picking more women of colour and girls who look like they could be your best mate.
Yes, we still love Adriana, Alessandra, Taylor and Romee, but these are some of our fave new faces set to walk the VSFS runway on November 30th.
Alanna Arrington
Iowa native Alanna made her fashion week debut in New York in February, opening for Altuzarra and closing for BCBG, before walking for everyone from Louis Vuitton to Chanel in the European shows. With short curls for days and a Harry Potter obsession, the 18-year-old is less intimidatingly sexy, and more gorgeous BFF goals.
Zuri Tibby
Zuri made VS history earlier this year when she was announced as the first black spokesmodel for the brand’s PINK line. Previously starring alongside Rihanna in her Stance socks campaign, we predict it won't be long until Zuri hits fully-fledged Angel status, following in the footsteps of current Angel Elsa Hosk.
Dilone
Dilone’s already starred on an i-D cover, appeared in Versace and Balmain campaigns and walked for Marc Jacobs and Fendi, with her Dominican heritage and super cute curly crop making her stand out from the crowd. For every perfect model shot on her Insta, there’s two of her goofing around with her mates, which is exactly why Dilone is our kinda gal. Oh, and did we mention she once got suspended from school for starting a good fight? Lolz.
Jourdana Elizabeth
Currently sporting a bright blonde buzzcut, Jourdana has been outspoken about how long hair is not the only style that equals beauty. Writing on Instagram, she said: “I've had two major hair cuts in the last year and I never thought in a million years I would cut my hair. I'm so glad I did! It's helped me overcome the idea that my beauty is synonymous with the length of my hair. I'm sure for many women it's difficult not to feel this way when everyone and everything tells you it is. Knowing this has given me a sense of empowerment, that regardless my beauty comes from a place that couldn't be altered aesthetically. I no longer feel forced to adhere to society's beauty standards and feel free to do as I please. You are sexy, strong and beautiful with long hair/short hair/pink hair/blue hair whatever!!!” Hear, hear.
You can watch the girls make their VSFS debut on streaming service hayu on December 6th.
