It seems Edward Enninful isn’t using the time before he takes the helm as editor of British Vogue in August to kick back and relax. Instead, he’s directed, cast and styled a film for Gap called Bridging The Gap, celebrating American optimism.
The cast comprises celebrities Enninful has worked with and championed in his lengthy career, which has taken him through i-D Magazine, American Vogue, Italian Vogue and W Magazine.
It includes rapper Wiz Khalifa, models Alek Wek, Lineisy Aboah and Maria Borges, and actress Priyanka Chopra.
The one and a half-minute clip sees them singing and dancing to Boney M’s Sunny wearing classic white Gap tees.
Though beautiful people who can sing and dance, unsurprisingly, makes for easy-watching, there’s a more significant take-home message. From all different backgrounds and industries, and of all different ages and sizes, they are unique yet united.
Edward Enninful says: “I love the optimistic American style that Gap celebrates and the simplicity of the basic white T-shirt that allows you to be yourself. Growing up, I loved the imagery I saw from America as it celebrated being the land of the free and home of the brave. This project is about authenticity and people living their truths.”
