It may be that you feel inclined to wear muted colours from now until spring. That makes sense – it can be difficult to muster up some sort of colourful enthusiasm when the skies are grey and you're suffering from new year gloom. But as it's a new decade, it might be worth a more optimistic outlook. For both you and your wardrobe. At least, that seems to be the route that Lupita Nyong'o and Rachel Brosnahan are taking; they're the latest to wear fashion's favourite new colour: neon green.
In the words of Kermit, the wisest of sages, it's not easy being green. And indeed, the neon iteration of the shade doesn't sound like the easiest thing to wear. As both Nyong'o and Brosnahan prove, however, it doesn't have to evoke memories of dayglo festival attire or dodgy fancy dress. It can actually be the epitome of chic.
Perhaps it's that fashion seems to have exclusively saved the shade for its best dresses. Nyong'o's dress is from Valentino's SS20 collection and has a very classic silhouette – it's unfussy and easy-to-wear, much like Brosnahan's Alex Perry dress.
Versace, too, showed neon green in the form of structured mini dresses, while Christopher Kane exhibited his usual gothic flair with lace, sheer midis.
In a fortuitous turn of events, there just so happens to be a number of neon green dresses in the sale at the moment. It's easier being green than you thought.
