Perhaps it was naïve to think that we’d reached peak midriff when the low slung jeans, visible boxer waistbands and crop tops of the 90s swung back into fashion. But who could have predicted this? A belted bare midriff is, if you will, the female equivalent of when Travis from Blink 182 wore a tie without a shirt - a lesson from the Peter Andre school of styling recently adopted by Tom Daley. And for those of us who eat pizza on Thursday nights, it is a styling trick eternally out of reach… unless you count Spanx girdles, which you probably shouldn’t.
