Sometimes it would be nice to be able to pull brand new stuff out of your wardrobe that the shopping fairies had put there, and your bank balance remain exactly the same. Wouldn't that be swell? Like a seasonally refreshing Narnia kinda deal. Open the door, and POOF! a whole new outfit for Saturday night - meaning you don't have to stage a meltdown at 7.23pm when you're supposed to be at a party/pub/gig in seven minutes time.

Here's the bad news. That will never happen. Never. Ever. Sorry. But here's how to make something that you've already got work with other bits you've already got...

Meet the humble midi skirt. We all bought one about two years ago when the midi tube skirt was huge and er, haven't really worn it since.

If by chance you didn't get one years ago - here's one on sale at Zara now for £15.99.

Now here comes the fun bit - the maths - I never thought I'd write those words in a sentence together.

Midi skirts can be a bit awkward, in that they often look super formal - like you're at work all day bossing shit up. Not very 'gimmee a vodka, soda and lime' at a bar. So, you need something fun to add to it...

First find that bold logo tee you've had at the back of your draws for years, but only ever wore to that one Zumba class you did years ago.

Next add your brightest whacky shoes - you know those ones that only got one outing for your boss' wedding last summer.

Put a bold bag in the equation for an extra pop of Saturday night merriment.

And finally add in your old trusty leather jacket for a dash of 'yeah me, I'm cool' - and because let's be honest it's fucking freezing out.

If you don't happen to have those bits in the back of your wardrobe here's a shopping list: Shoes, £59.99, Zara, jacket, £139.99, H&M, bag, £28, T shirt, £19, & Other Stories

And there you have it - I think I just did actual maths, my dad would be so proud.
