Sir Mick Jagger has donated a three-year scholarship program for students at London’s Central Saint Martins MA fashion course, in memory of his late partner L’Wren Scott.

The scholarship program will take place over three years, and will see one student a year offered their fees for the two-year course, as well as a contribution to their living expenses.

Central Saint Martins said in a statement that Scott had been impressed with the late MA fashion course director Professor Louise Wilson’s “commitment to excellence and dedication to fashion education” when they met at the British Fashion Awards. Both women passed away last year.

Fabio Piras, course director of the MA fashion program at CSM said: “I am very grateful to receive this extremely generous scholarship package, gifted by Mick Jagger in L’Wren Scott’s name. Our students sacrifice much to take up this course and work extremely hard when they are here. I am proud of the fact that this course … continues to be recognized as a major contributor to the future of the global fashion industry.”

The scholarship program will begin for the academic year starting October 2015.
