To be honest, Italian fashion has always been a little OTT. From Dolce & Gabbana’s corsets to Versace’s golden prints and Gucci’s excess, we get it, subtlety isn’t part of their sartorial vocabulary. Now that the international collections have made their bi-annual stop on the carb-friendly country we can see this eccentricity doesn’t stop at the catwalk, it spreads across the streets too. From logomania to clashing colours and prints, anything goes as for the street style stars of Milan Fashion Week. As they take in the autumn winter 18 collections at the likes of Moschino, Fendi and Pucci, we take in their incredible ensembles. Interesting and outrageous, just how we like our Italian frow-ers to be!
1. Weird But Wonderful
Every style ingenue, including Susie Lau and pals, are obsessed with Gucci's school of whimsy. Letting their weird flag fly these sartorial savants punctuating their wardrobes with nan-chic twists on accessories, Mary Poppins handbags, kooky shoes and fantasy tailoring.
2. Suspend Your Imagination
Rihanna’s muse Sita Abellan championed British label Mimi Wade with her silk off-the-shoulder slip dress. Playing up the boudoir vibes she paired this micro-minidress with net thigh-highs and buckled mules.
3. Winter Sun
Gigi and Bella Hadid continue their global street style tour in the same fashion we’ve become accustomed to. Ask yourself, have you ever seen them not with miniature sunglasses on, hair centre parted, Gigi wearing ludicrous but strangely alluring jeans and Bella embracing logo mania?
4. Green Goddess
Rowan Blanchard proves her style credentials with a green Gucci jumpsuit. The addition of a maroon bag is funky - in a good way.
