No matter how convincing Black Mirror is, it goes without saying that it’s impossible to predict what the future will look like. One thing we can say for certain is that the worlds of art, music and fashion have the power to shift culture and bring about meaningful change, which is something Mercedes-Benz is championing with its new project.
The latest instalment in the #mbfashion collective story, #WeWonder is a manifesto that brings together some of the most dynamic talents from across the world. The collective includes Kenzo & Opening Ceremony designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the Serpentine Galleries’ artistic director Hans Ulrich Obrist, Hypebeast founder Kevin Ma, writer, The Met Museum’s resident social media expert, curator and social activist Kimberly Drew, model Slick Woods and needs-no-introduction Solange Knowles. Together they gathered for a round-table discussion to create a manifesto of what the future could look like (think of it less as an instruction manual and more as an inspirational gathering of ideas).
‘The power of conversation is invaluable, and I’m extremely excited to explore the future of technology alongside a partner who has so consistently invested in the arts in such an innovative way. I believe in this group of people, and their contributions to shifting the culture of art, fashion and expression,’ says Solange.
The visionary’s individual themes and content will be released throughout 2018 through a series of global events, appearances and digital activity with Kimberly Drew the first to unveil her theme and the accompanying content at SXSW in March. Watch this space.
