Dressing Melania Trump for the inauguration of her husband Donald Trump has become one of the least-wanted jobs in the fashion industry, with no shortage of designers refusing to be associated with the new First Lady.
Yet someone has stepped up to the plate, if reports by WWD are to be believed. The godfather of American fashion, Ralph Lauren, is said to be designing a gown for the Slovenian former model - despite the fact that he was an outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter during the election.
Indeed, the designer dressed Clinton on numerous important occasions, including her Election Day trip to the polling booth and her concession speech that very evening. But Mrs Trump is also a fan, wearing a one-shouldered Ralph Lauren dress for Election Night, although it is important to note that the designer didn't lend her the piece - she bought it herself (whatever next?).
One thing is certain - whatever designer Melania decides to wear will receive unprecedented attention. Isobel Toledo, the previously unknown designer worn by Michelle Obama during her husband's 2009 inauguration, found herself suddenly world-famous.
