Since Melania Trump has taken up her position as First Lady, the fashion world have been split on the subject of dressing the President’s wife. While a plethora of designers have refused to dress Melania Trump, others, namely Ralph Lauren, have been supportive.

One organisation who are keen to win over the First Lady, is anti-fur group, PETA.

Pamela Anderson, long time animal rights activist and Honorary PETA Director, has sent Melania an eco faux-fur coat to thank her for choosing a fur-free look at the presidential inauguration. The custom-design black lamb-look coat was created by Russian faux-fur manufacturer Only Me.

“Amid all the mania at the inauguration, you looked stunning in an outfit by Ralph Lauren—one of many fur-free designers. I am so happy that you chose not to wear fur! As first lady, you will help set style trends, and by remaining compassionate with your choices, you will warm the hearts of many,” Anderson wrote in a letter to Melania.

PETA are hoping that by dressing the controversial figure they can draw attention to animal rights, and continue the tradition of presidential families supporting the anti-fur movement.

“We decided that since the world is looking at Melania Trump, we would ask her to be a style icon with a heart. Michelle Obama has never worn fur, the Bush wives never wore fur. When Nixon was in office he made a statement about the Republican ‘cloth coat’ and his wife never wore fur. So Pam is saying to Melania, ‘please keep this going’,” PETA’s founder, Ingrid Newkirk told The Telegraph.

Whether or not Melania Trump will oblige is yet to be revealed. Watch this space.
