It’s official - winter coat season is upon us. Before bundling up, you might want to consult our cold weather muse of the moment. Drumroll please - it’s the Duchess of Sussex.
Visiting the Field of Remembrance outside Westminster Abbey this morning, the Duchess gave us a masterclass in how to style a smart winter coat.
The navy blue wrap number is from Sentaler, a Canadian outerwear brand that Meghan has worn on several occasions, and she accessoried with a velvet net headpiece from Philip Treacy, leather gloves and knee-high boots with a little slouch.
But this isn’t just a nice coat. Meghan has a clear strategy. She usually chooses outerwear that hits that sweet spot around the mid-calf - so much more flattering than above the knee - and this time added a leather belt to pull in the waist. She also left her boots disappear underneath her coat's hem; much more weather-appropriate, not to mention comfortable, than court heels.
Praise be. She's given us a reason to embrace cold weather.
