Karl Lagerfeld may still be embroiled in scandal, but Chanel is going from strength-to-strength. Following the fashion house’s recent Cruise runway show, the label has picked Margot Robbie to lead their new advertising campaign.
This is not just a new role for Robbie, but the launch of a new category for Chanel. Though the label has previously created one-off ski pieces (like those legendary skis owned by Victoria Beckham, which are worth Googling for the nostalgia alone), the new Coco Neige range, which will be available from the label boutiques from July, is a comprehensive range of winter sports, après-ski and technical pieces. Naturally, Chanel will bring its own unique house motifs to the collection, which means expect tweed and camellia’s to be present and accounted for.
‘This shoot was one of the greatest experiences of my career. The energy and vibe on set was so wonderful and collaborative,’ the Australian actress said, according to WWD. ‘One of the first things Karl Lagerfeld said to me was that we never need to take ourselves too seriously. He has such a creative mind and he knows exactly what he wants and the minute he captured it, we were moving onto the next shot. It was amazing.
'Karl Lagerfeld is a creative mastermind. I already knew he was a genius but to be able to spend time with him in person, I now know he is also just a wonderful human being,'
