Everyone Is Wearing Tube Socks

We’re at that funny moment in the fashion calendar when the air fizzes with affordable trends. We’ve watched winter’s designs get dumped on the sale rack, and spring styles slide into stores. But, for as long as icy winds still blow summer’s fashion trends will feel ridiculous and impractical. Enter, this fleeting moment between seasons when quick fix trends rise to the fore. Giving you the endorphin injection of a new purchase, but without committing to a full new look, it’s the perfect answer to repressing your thirst for a wardrobe revamp.

Following in the footsteps, (sorry, couldn’t help it) of net tights and spaghetti strap tops, the new purse-friendly piece to covert is the athletic tube sock. While you’ll remember them from P.E. as the ribbed calf-high nightmares that constantly fought gravity to stay above your ankle, they’ve had a rebirth. It’s a nod to Vetement’s be-logoed sock boots, to the rising 70s aesthetic, to Gucci’s lookbook and the growing influence of skater style. Kristen Stewart has been schooling us in the look for yonks, but until now it’s always seemed to LA to bring to London, but that's all changed...

1. Slide On In

*Too cold for Adidas slides? Never! Pull up a pair of tube socks, and they become a year-round shoe.

2. Bright White

*Bleach will become your washing routine’s best mate because the trick is to keep your socks as sparkling as the wave on your Vans.

3. Step Up

We’ll level with you - we're not sure which of the identical twins, Sama and Haya Khadra, stepped out in the statement socks, but either way she’s worth paying attention to. Her mid-calf tube socks instantly balance out her oversized mini t-shirt dress and in the process up its cool credentials.

4. Femme-Friendly

As an actual skater, Stefani Nurding brings credibility to this trend. We love how her ribbed socks match her board and trousers.

5. Say It Like You Mean It

Model Charlie Barker has a unique sense of style, and she’s showing it feet first. She proves trainers aren’t your only footwear option with these socks.

Give old sneeks a new lease of life with branded socks, like Lauren Hinson’s trendy Liam Hodge socks.
