There was only one person that Lily James, star of Pam & Tommy, could have channeled on the promo tour: Pamela Anderson herself, of course. For yesterday's appearance outside the studios of Jimmy Kimmel Live, James wore a look that was very 'Pammy'. In fact, it must have been the actor's take on a famous outfit of the model's from 2001, where she paired a cobweb-style crop top with slashed-around-the-hips trousers, all in black.
James' version involved a ruffled halter neck and high-waisted black trousers from Magda Butrym, a favourite of her stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray.
For last week's press event in LA, James arrived wearing an outfit that was similarly suited to her onscreen alter-ego, a silver minidress from Versace, complete with a pastel pink coat, both of which were boned with visible corsetry.
'Does this count as day to night?' Corbin-Murray posted on Instagram. If you're Pammy, then yes.
Earlier in the day, James posted another outfit picture, this time a corseted blouse from Vivienne Westwood, paired with black cigarette pants, that looked like a homage to the lace-up style she's wearing in the early promo shots as Pamela.
As Grazia's Laura Antonia Jordan observed last year, 'Pamela Anderson is a total mood for 2022.' Think miniskirts, mega hats, pencil-then eyebrows and knotting your shirt above (way above) your belly button.
