Last night umpteen celebrities, models, designers and socialites strutted down the (notably) beige carpet of the annual Met Gala. Known as fashion’s big night out, The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute ball is the peak of Anna Wintour’s social calendar. It’s a $30,000 a head dinner with a star performance – this year from Katy Perry – and more celebrities that the Oscars.

Really, it’s just like prom – everyone turns up in a rented limo wearing an uncomfortable dress and has to pose for pictures that their parents will ‘ooo’ and ‘ahh’ over. But, unlike our prom pics that are (thankfully) gathering dust somewhere, these photos will be plastered over the pages of The Daily Mail.

While Rihanna and Lily Rose Depp tried their darndest last night to overthrow her, the ultimate Met Gala prom queen title belongs to one Hillary Rodham Clinton. Back in 2001, when the Met Gala was comparatively a low-key affair, Hilz turned up in a leopard print gown. Yes, you read that right, An olive green taffeta leopard print dress. Naomi Campbell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney, Iman and Jessica Simpson were also there, but even then all eyes were on Clinton.
