It's official, flares are the coolest trouser to be seen in right now - we're crushing on model Freja Beha Erichsen's January Vogue cover, where she is sporting a Gucci denim pair. How much do we wish we had her laid back hippie-come-boho vibe? Quite a lot. The AW14 catwalks kicked off the trend, where seventies styles were rife, with the odd nod to the next decade here and there, but it was the SS15 runways that cemented the trend - next spring it's going to be all about folding up your skinnies and cracking out a pair of big bottomed beauties.

**Choose A Skinny Woolen Flare **
These marled grey flares don't scream volume thanks to their skinny cut and low flare just at the ankle. If you're addicted to your skinnies, this shape would be a good place to start. The oversized coat detracts from the flare of the trousers, almost playing them down. These white pointed boots add a whole other level of cool to the denim flares - if you're going to wear eye catching trousers then you want to make sure whatever is sitting just below them is just as stylish. Avoid colourful platforms unless you know exactly what you're doing - it can be easy to turn into a Scooby Doo character without realising. And don't let your denim drag - fraying isn't cool unless it's Marques Almeida.
Tailor You Look To Suit You
This neat sleeveless blazer looks awesome when worn with some seriously kicked out flares. Beware if you're not long of leg, as the mid length gilet and voluminous cuffs generally require a bit of height to keep the look sleek. If you are shorter, try a cropped leather jacket instead.
Dare To Flare And Go All Out With Prints
Now, if you're not one to do anything by halves, then find yourself a printed pair of flares - you're probably best scouring your local charity and vintage shops for authentic looking patterns. Wear them with modern pieces up top to balance out the retro vibe, such as a sports-luxe sweatshirt, and metallic accessories.
