Founded by a former Elle US girl, Katie Hobbs, the Atlanta-based (rather than Left Bank placed) e-store Les Nouvelles has been going since 2009 – but we only recently discovered its greatness. But how, you may ask? Well, because it can take time for US retail stores to make their way over the pond to us. And because sometimes, great things scoot under the radar. Right?

But we’re thinking that if it scooted under our radar, then it might still be under yours, too. In which case – let it out! Because Les Nouvelles has a (mid-high priced) edit of hard-to-find designers that are just the thing to shake up your stale old wardrobe this spring.

Être Cécile

Retail consultant Yasmin Sewell’s supercool sweater and T-shirt line, Être Cécile, is graphic with a zeitgeisty touch of the tongue-in-cheek. Don’t date; just copy and paste.

Jenni Kane

Footwear designer Jenni Kane is massive in the States, and her ‘open shank’ flat has become ubiquitous with her brand. These salmon flats are as chic as they are offbeat.

Apiece Apart

NYC label Apiece Apart describes itself as ‘elevated basics’, and we can see what they mean with this bustier and chambray midi skirt. The muted grey hue makes the two-piece understated rather than cutesy.

Nina Cropped Bustier£177.61 and Wabi Sabi Skirt, £198.99 both Apiece Apart

Rodebjer

Stockholm/NYC brand Rodebjer’s collection channels an easy, loose-silhouetted modernity, much like Acne. Everyone needs a bit of disco in their lives.

Crippen

When ex-J Brand founder Susie Crippen left the denim monolith, she took an attitude with her: casual, quiet and everyday. Reminding us a bit of French superbrand Equipment, Crippen’s all about the luxe one-offs that you’ll find yourself wearing pretty much every weekend with a denim A-Line.
