Searches For Leather Shirts Have Increased By 800% – And They’re A Huge Trend For Next Season, Too

Shopping app LIKEtoKNOW.it has reported an 800% increase in searches for leather shirts. This may seem unprecedented, born out of nowhere and for no apparent reason. It's not. It is, in fact, the result of something of a leather-aissance as fashion's most influential designers put it at the core of their collections for both AW19 and next season, too.

During September and October's fashion weeks, the street style scene was dominated by leather shirts. They may not sound like the most versatile or easy to wear of tops but they actually boast both of those qualities – and more.

Whether tucked into high-waisted trousers or skirts, worn open over a dress or buttoned up with jeans, they have the ability to make any outfit look instantly more interesting, expensive and directional. The street stylers have favoured a top-to-toe leather look of late – one which will still be very much on trend come spring. Everyone from Givenchy to Alexander McQueen showed full-look leather for next season, so buying a leather shirt now will continue to pay dividends next year – and beyond.

These shirts are selling incredibly well, too. A number of styles have already sold out, while high street brands have made them a part of their premium offerings.
