A teddy bear coat – soft as, not made of – is pretty much the first huggable piece of clothing we’ve ever seen Kim Kardashian wear. Bodycon crop tops, mesh pencil skirts and leather everything doesn't scream snuggle up. But teddy bear coat? So damn huggable.

The fact is, Kim is becoming increasingly stylish. Less spandex bandwagon, more leather pioneer. The MaxMara Carrara coat (lapels the size of your head, sleeves wide enough to smuggle a medium sized d0g) has been destined for fame since it first appeared on the catwalk last year. But now it's started a whole new trend - which the world and his wife are happily calling Teddy Bear Coats. And just for a sneaky tip... we're seeing plenty more coming out of this current deluge of fashion weeks', too (more soon.)

Now there are a few things to think about before you buy one. These coats were born to be big; a flattering silhouette they are not. Carine is potentially holding hers up with some kind of body scaffold. Alexa and Lily have opted for slightly smaller incarnations, but they are still large enough to throw an intimate cocktail party in. This is thing to supersize to infinity and beyond. As a result put it with jeans and a t-shirt, (or bare legs, they'll be swaddled, remember?) or even a slick party dress and spikes. Here are some we like:
