Kim Kardashian’s Style Evolution

Kim Kardashian is undoubtedly one of the most talked about celebrities of the 21st century. Having broken the internet numerous times, whether it was intentional or not, it comes as no surprise that she famously snapped up the top spot as the most Googled star of 2015.

Whether it’s another nude snap shared via social media, a new instalment of Kimojis or a second book inspired by her self-proclaimed selfie addiction, Kim Kardashian never ceases to trend on Twitter and rack up the likes.

But the one thing that encapsulates the media’s attention most of all, is Kim Kardashian’s inimitable sense of style. A frequent face on the FROW thanks to close relationships with the likes of Olivier Rousteing and Riccardo Tisci, Kim has undoubtedly (perhaps even surprisingly) taken the fashion world by storm.

But it hasn’t always been that way, as who could possibly forget her socialite days spent in co-ordinating Louis Vuitton alongside BFF Paris Hilton or her debut appearance in the first series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians?

Pre-Kanye

The pre-Kanye era saw Kim and BFF/boss Paris Hilton embody the true sartorial spirit of the noughties. From co-ordinating pink velour to tiny LV handbags and teetering kitten heels, the pair were the socialites (and surprising fashion icons) of the decade.

Think floaty kaftans and brown leggings. All before Kim of course shot to further fame following a certain sex tape leak which enabled her to bag a reality television show deal, blessing the world with the gift that is Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

A Pre-Kanye Sartorial Favourite - Matching LV Bags

Kim and Paris were inseparable once upon a time and so were their wardrobes. From matching metallic Louis Vuitton bags to belly button baring swimsuits, the pair dressed to be noticed. And we have to admit, their wardrobes are bringing back true noughties nostalgia.

Post-Kanye

Kanye is notably responsible for Kim’s sartorial transformation. We’re talking a newfound love of sports caps, thigh-high Perspex boots and velour hoodies - a luxe take on athleisure if you will.

A keen wearer of Kanye’s brand Yeezy, Kim quickly adopted a high fashion approach to sportswear. Cue volumous furs, bleach blonde hair and trainers.

And Kim soon found herself on the FROW alongside Anna Wintour with daughter North in the crook of her arm.

Key Sartorial Moments From The Post-Kanye Period...

Perhaps the most interesting aspect to Kim's post-Kanye dressing is the fact that she's gone full circle. Velour tracksuits have been re-invented come 2016 alongside retro Adidas and noughties style leggings.

1. The Givenchy Floral Dress

Ah, the iconic floral dress by Givenchy. Perhaps the most talked about dress Kim has ever donned. Social media went into overdrive when Kim stepped out at the 2013 Met Gala, sparking a series of Mrs Doubtfire inspired memes.

Never one to take herself seriously however, Kim re-invented the outfit come Halloween.

2. Mother/Daughter Goals

Ever since Kim and Kanye welcomed their first child North West, we haven't been able to take our eyes off her impeccable style. We have to admit that we never thought we would count a three-year-old as one of our style icons.

But it seems the pair are giving Beyoncé and daughter Blue Ivya run for their money on the sartorial front as they co-ordinate like no other. From when North borrowed her mum's $1,700 thigh-high Balenciaga boots to when the mother/daughter duo donned matching Vetements dresses weighing in at £7,000, it's clear who the winners are here.

3. The Met Gala Appearance

In keeping with the theme of 'Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology' for the 2016 Met Gala, Kim and Kanye donned sci-fi inspired Balmain.

Kanye opted for blue jeans and a silver embellished jacket whilst Kim donned a robot-esque dress with wet-look hair and a silver ear cuff.
