Graffiti artist Joseph Tierney, who goes by the name of Rime, has filed a lawsuit against Jeremy Scott and Moschino accusing him of copying his designs in his Autumn Winter 2015 collection.
The look in question, is the strapless spray paint-splattered gown (complete with matching long sleeved gloves) which Katy Perry wore to the Met Gala this year. This look was also worn by Gigi Hadid on the runway.
The suit claims that this graffiti print is one of Rime's murals named 'Vandal Eyes' (which was created in 2012).
The lawsuit, obtained by E! News, reads: "Rime is a well-known artist. Defendants Moschino and Jeremy Scott—two household names in high fashion—inexplicably placed Rime's art on their highest-profile apparel without his knowledge or consent."
The lawsuit continues: "Defendants paid Ms. Perry to advertise and display the clothing at the Gala. Not only did Ms. Perry and defendant Scott advertise, wear, and display the clothing at the event, they arrived at the event in a spray painted Rolls Royce, and even carried around Moschino branded cans of fake spray paint during the event, as if defendants were responsible for the artwork."
Moschino is yet to comment on the lawsuit.
