In the best possible way...

Though her ‘Never complain, never explain’ mantra means that interviews are few and far between, we like to think that Kate Moss has the best sense of humour in fashion. There was the time she and Naomi Campbell appeared (with Noel Gallagher, of course) on a special edition of Gogglebox, snacking on Monster Munch and putting British TV to rights. There've been a handful of Comic Relief appearances (some of which have aged better than others). And there was her willingness to send herself up as a major plot point in 2016's so-bad-it's good-but-it's-actually-still-bad Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

In terms of the sheer volume of its celebrity cameos being inversely proportional to its quality, Ab Fab: The Movie can only be rivalled by Zoolander 2, and for those who are yet to experience this cinematic treat_,_ the plot goes something like this: our Bolly-addled heroines Patsy and Edina accidentally knock Mossy into the River Thames, where the supermodel apparently meets a watery end. Our duo then flee to the French Riviera, but (spoiler alert) it soon transpires that Mossy's 'death' is not all it seems. Cue an actually quite brilliant shot of Kate, dressed in green sequins with a fag in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other, crawling onto the banks of the Thames estuary.

It's this image that we can't help but recall when looking at YSL's new autumn-winter campaign. The striking ads for Anthony Vaccarello's #YSL17 collection, which were shot by Dutch photographer duo Inez & Vinoodh, see Mossy emerging from some much cleaner, clearer waters onto a tropical beach, wearing two new sequinned ensembles: both one-pieces with Vaccarello's signature power-shoulders, intricately embellished with floral prints. And while we're guessing (for their sakes) that neither Vaccarello nor his campaign collaborators have sat through the 91 minutes of Ab Fab: The Movie, we can only assume that Mossy saw the funny side...
