Kate Moss isn't one for an interview - but judging by her latest chat with her long-time friend and photographer Nick Knight she should have her own chat show. 'Late With Kate' has a ring to it don't you think?
It's a candid interview, where she talks staying up too late, obsessed exes and her battle with stretch limos. She smokes, drops F bombs, wears black-out sunglasses and shrugs off tough questions with a 'whatever' and a Croydon cackle.
How does it feel to see her face on billboards everywhere? Kate says: "Still sometimes I'm like, 'ooh look there's me!' I'm never like 'wow look at me on the bus.' You have to be a bit grounded about things like that."
Is it hard to be grounded though when you're, you know, Kate Moss? She says: "No because I'm from Croydon and if you get above your station someone will f****** knock you down. Especially when my mum is my mum and my dad is my dad and my brother is my brother. You can't go around with airs and graces at all and I would never want to. When I see people do that I think they look like c*****."
Nick Knight says that he can't think of anyone in modern history that has had the same number of headlines as Kate. She doesn't see herself as the modern day Marilyn, as she jokes: "Oh there has been! Loads! Kerry Katona. Katie Price. I don't go 'I'm in the papers all the time,' because there are loads of people in the papers all the time."
Moss also talked about the original Calvin Klein Obsession ads, which her shot by her then-boyfriend Mario Sorrenti. She said:“Calvin saw Mario’s book and it was all pictures of me on holiday, and he was like, ‘Great, I can see it’s an obsession,’ and he saw it, and it was obsession.”
She explained the downside of dating a photographer: “I would wake up in the morning and he would be like taking pictures of me, and I’d be like, ‘F*** off.’ When you are in a relationship with a photographer and they start abusing that relationship of being like 'I want you to do this and that.' I'm like 'no.' I didn't want to work all the time - he would be like 'get on the roof and take your clothes off' and I would be like 'f*** off!'"
She added: “Now I understand that kind of thing a bit better, capturing an image and working, doing those things, but at the time I was 17.”
