There is no denying the fact that the nation is quite frankly obsessed with the Duchess of Cambridge's wardrobe. Dubbed the 'Kate Effect', all it takes is one Zara dress and within minutes it's absent from the shelves.

And one trait that Kate Middleton fans appreciate most, is the way in which the duchess seeks sartorial inspiration from her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

From her Alexander McQueen wedding dress to the now-iconic Lindo Wing exit, there are strong parallels between their wardrobes.

And eagle-eyed journalists at Good Housekeeping have noted that the£50 lace-up plimsoles Kate Middleton is frequently spotted wearing were in fact first donned by Diana.

According to the magazine, Kate wears the White 2750 Cotu Classics while Diana opted for the 2750 Cotu Classics in a navy hue back in the nineties.

In true Kate effect, the media attention surrounding the trainers resulted in sales of the Superga trainers doubling. No surprise there.
