Just when you thought Kate Middleton’s fashion star couldn’t rise any higher.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been announced as Vogue UK’s centenary cover star, completing her first ever photo shoot for the magazine.

The magazine confirmed the news on their Instagram page, posting a picture of the cover with the caption: “BREAKING NEWS: the Duchess of Cambridge is Vogue's centenary cover star - click the link in bio to see more from her first-ever shoot. The issue is on newsstands from May 5 #Vogue100.”

The Duchess was photographed by Josh Olins for the shoot, which took place in Norfolk to celebrate 100 years of the fashion magazine.

Kate’s appearance on the magazine comes 19 years after her husband’s late mother Princess Diana, the ultimate cover girl, last covered Vogue.

Despite her usual insistence on doing her own makeup, the Duchess allowed Vogue to hire makeup artist Sally Branka, who gave Kate a more natural look without her signature black eyeliner.

Two of the photographs from Olin’s Vogue shoot will be added to the Vogue 100 exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery from today.

The issue will be on sale from 5 May.
