Kanye West has been ruffling some feathers this fashion week - and not just because of his habit of making editors wait for him to sit on the front row.
Kanye is a last minute addition to editors' schedules - he just announced that he is presenting his second Adidas collection this Wednesday. But one designer who has been scheduled into this 12pm slot for months is not too impressed.
Designer Anne Bowen said to WWD: "We have been prepping for a year for this at considerable financial, labor- and commitment-cost to our company. Our show date has been scheduled for months and has been on the Fashion Calendar for weeks. We went through all the proper channels to make this a reality. And just yesterday we learned that Kanye West is having a show at the same time on the same date as ours."
She added: "Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this. It’s like we are David and he is Goliath. We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this."
Bowen rescheduled her presentation after hearing the news three days before the planned show. Her rep said to WWD: “We’re scrambling like crazy and it’s costing us a lot of money. We sent out printed invites by hand, and they’re useless. We’re trying to contact everyone by e-mail."
Of course shows overlap all the time over fashion week. Kanye has some competition from another off-the-schedule event - the Fat Jewish's debut collection.
