Kaia Gerber Proves That This Is The Only Jacket You Need This Spring

A-listers are on a mission to convince us that practical outerwear is not reserved for days in the great outdoors only. The latest convert is supermodel-offspring, Kaia Gerber, who’s stepped out in what is perhaps the unexpected hero of the transitional wardrobe: the humble fleece.

Gerber, for her part, kept it classic and matched her burnt orange fleece jacket by the American cult label Free People with leggings, white socks and street style-approved trainers. And she isn’t the first celebrity to be spotted out and about in the cosy layer. Model Hailey Bieber took the statement-making style by London-designer Conner Ives for several spins in the past few months, making it a sell-out item. She, too, stuck to a casual get-up, swapping long leggings for gym-shorts.

And what’s the takeaway for us? That old Patagonia number that might be floating around in the deep end of your closet (waiting to be pulled out for Glasto) should get more airtime than a few days a year. Extend its shelf life and spend your days in fleece. Maybe not to the office but the weekends will do.
