Beyoncé may have costume changes, and Celine Dion may have a wardrobe full of couture, but there is only one artist out there who’s stagewear is worth actually paying attention to. Beliebe it or not, it’s ol’ Justin Bieber.
As with most child stars, we’ve watched from afar as Biebs has undergone several fashion transformations. The Biebervolution has taken him from floppy-haired prepubescent with little idea about personal style, to quaffed with drop-crotch track pants and rappers chains. However, it was Bieber who relit the fire in tour merch. He changed the game when he appeared on stage during his Purpose tour in his own concert tee that mixed heavy metal graphics with Marilyn Manson pictures and his own tour branding. Kanye evidently took note.
But it’s his latest incarnation that has crucially delivered him kudos in the streetwear arena. Though he’s posed in his pants for Calvin Klein, it was Justin Bieber’s recent outing in a Supreme x Louis Vuitton shirt that’s solidified him as a high-end fashion ballplayer.
To say Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with Supreme was hyped would be an understatement. When the collection dropped on the weekend, it almost immediately began fetching between $3,000 and $10,000 on eBay. Celebrities like Madonna and 2 Chainz even took to Instagram to show off their swag. But, it’s Bieber who has been a longtime collector of the skate brand that managed to wear his baseball shirts with ease and distinction. It’s not the first time he’s played the part of Supreme fanboy, and we doubt it will be the last.
