It's Monday, we still have two full working weeks before we can even think about swapping our everyday clothes for loungewear and breakfast for Quality Street and it's getting colder by the day. What we need is a tonic to revive us all and propel us into the end of December. Thankfully, Saturday Night Live provided such a tonic in the form of Jennifer Lopez, the show's most recent host and all-round hero.
Every host needs an opening monologue, and JLo managed to cram quite a lot into hers: some humble bragging, an encouraging pep talk, a musical number and – last but not least – a very quick change into the Versace dress she first made famous 20 years ago.
You may remember the moment during Milan Fashion Week, when JLo and Donatella Versace essentially broke the internet. Closing the Versace show, Lopez appeared in the jungle dress for the first time since she first wore it to the Grammy Awards in 2000. The dress was such a sensation, in fact, that the then-nascent Google was unable to handle the sheer volume of searches for the dress, and so invented Google Image Search. This year, they no doubt fielded a whole new range of searches based on J Lo's appearance at the Versace show, and now maybe her hosting gig on SNL.
I don't really want to spoil the big reveal, so would highly recommend just watching the above video. If that doesn't cheer up your Monday, I don't know what will. And remember, as JLo says, 'the best is yet to come.'
