According to the Business Of Fashion, Jenna Lyons is set to depart J. Crew after 26 years as the company’s creative director and president.
In a statement, Lyons announced: "It has been beyond my wildest dreams to work with such an amazing team of people at such an incredible brand and alongside Mickey - one of retail’s most talented visionaries...”
She continued: “I am excited about the next chapter for J.Crew as well as the opportunity for other creative leaders within the organisation to step up and take on new responsibilities.”
Her departure from the brand came about after Lyons and Millard (Mickey) Drexler, the chief executive at J. Crew, 'agreed it was time for a change'. But there are no hard feelings as he told Business of Fashion: “It's been a great run. There's a lot of mutual respect between Jenna and me.”
Lyons joined the company back in 1990 and was promoted to president in 2010.
But with 26 years at the American fashion house under her belt, who will take the reigns?
According to the Business of Fashion, J.Crew’s current head of design, Somsack Sikhounmuong, has been promoted to chief design officer. Sikhounmuong will be in charge of womenswear, menswear and childrenswear with immediate effect.
Lyons will stay at J.Crew as creative advisor until the end of her contract, which expires in December 2017.
We can't wait to see what the designer has in store for the future...
