Palace, Supreme, slip-on sneakers, we can barely count the ways that skate culture has rolled into fashion. But, the latest element to be pilfered is a shredding both the catwalks and Instagram. Vans’ black and white checkerboard was a key pattern in Marques’Almeida’s autumn winter 17 collection and ever since the girls of Instagram have been coolly integrating the monochrome op-art pattern into their wardrobes. Whether it’s as a slinky slip or as a daffy set of dungarees, this is how to wear this hype pattern like the best of Instagram…

ASOS Insider Olivia’s slinky asymmetric slip dress throws shade at trad checkerboards with its oscillating print and abstract stripes. Into it? Very.

Just because black and white is the classic combination, don’t let it stop you doing a Skittles and trying the rainbow. We love how Alicia has teamed her trousers with Pop Art Converses.

Vans have made checkerboard their calling card for a reason. So don’t faff with this classic, keep the combination intact with a pair of matching slip-ons, like both the skaters and the Louis loving girls like Ava Nirui do.
