The Danes have long been feted for their sleek, understated design aesthetic.

So, perhaps it was only a matter of time before they joined forces with their Scandi neighbours, Ikea.

The Swedish furniture giant has teamed up with the Danish brand Hay to unveil a beautifully minimalist collection of homeware.

The living room concept, titled Ypperlig, will be available to shop this autumn and features over 30 meticulously designed pieces - from bookshelves to blankets, candlesticks, ceramic jugs and mirrors.

The overall effect is a visual feast, with clean lines and a fresh, contemporary approach that emphasises simplicity and fine craftsmanship.

A pared-back palette features soothing hues of whites, greys and charcoals with the occasional pop of blush pink and pale greens.

All in all, it's a wonderful union of two of Scandinavia's brightest design talents.

If it's innovative chic and quiet flair you're after, this collaboration has it by the table-load.

The full range will be released in October. Take a sneak peek at the preview, below, and get those creative juices flowing...
