Last week, social media went into meltdown after Twitter users were quick to draw comparisons between Balenciaga's latest 'It' bag and Ikea's famous blue tote.

And the Swedish homeware giant responded to the alleged copyright in the best possible way, as Ikea’s sales leader Stella Monteiro told Today: “We are extremely flattered to seemingly be an inspiration for the latest catwalk designs for Balenciaga."

He continued: "Our Ikea Frakta tote is one of our most iconic products which are already owned and loved by millions - now many people truly can get the designer look for less.”

And now, the Scandi store has teased the French fashion house once again with an advertisement mocking the similarity.

The now-viral ad advises customers on 'How To Identify An Original Ikea Frakta Bag'.

The mock campaign was the brainwave of Acne creative director, Johan Holgrem. He told Creative, "I wanted to act fast, so we contacted our client the day after and I said, 'We'll have creative work ready within two hours'".

The agency then approached photographer Anders Kylberg to shoot the Ikea Frakta bag in the studio taking inspirational cues from Balenciaga's past fashion campaigns. The ad went out on the same day.

Holgrem admitted he couldn't resist teasing the fashion house as he added: "I like the flirt, and I thought, 'Why not flirt back?' And we did."
