Blame brand-of-the-moment Vetements and its cult line of knowing, retro printed sweatshirts if you will, but hoodies are currently enjoying a somewhat unexpected renaissance on the street style circuit.
Thanks to Leo's Oscars triumph, the brand's tongue-in-cheek over-sized style emblazoned with a very bedraggled Jack and Rose from Titanic sold out basically everywhere, and every blogger worth their 5 million strong Insta-following has been snapped wearing the signature plain hoodie, which sees the Vetements logo re-imagined in the style of an old-school sportswear label.
Hoodies aren't the only teen-approved trend to undergo a street style resurgence this season. While Stan Smiths may have recently been crowned as the fashion crowd's shoe of choice (with even Victoria Beckham donning a pair to take a bow at her most recent NYFW show), this season saw the humble Converse high-tops emerging as a new pretender to the throne.
But how can you get on board with this trend without looking like Avril Lavigne circa 2002? By following our non-'Complicated' styling tips...
Add a bomber jacket
Bombers are this spring's jacket of choice, and an embellished style works perfectly when layered over the humble grey hoodie. Get inspired by our spring jacket edit here.
Play with proportion
Oversized sleeves teamed with cropped jeans? Very Vetements indeed.
Add statement accessories
A simple hoodie allows you to opt for accessories that are a little 'out there.' Statement bag? Sure. Scarf as a tie? Little bit Avril, but we'll let it go.
Play with colour and texture
As with accessories, you can afford to be a little less conservative with the rest of your outfit when it comes to colours, textures, prints, finishes...
Tuck it in
Channel Scandi blogger extraordinaire Pernille Teisbaek and tuck your sweatshirt into a midi skirt or more fitted style - she's wearing a crew-neck style here, but this trick would work just as well with a hoodie.
Go for box-fresh
This time around, scuffed Chuck Taylors just won't cut it. Treat yourself to a brand new pair.
