The Little Mermaid premiere happened last night in LA. And while us poor unfortunate souls have to wait until the end of the month to actually watch the movie, at least, in the meantime, we've got the looks from last night's red carpet.
Actually, the carpet wasn't red at all but an under the sea shade of blue. Naturally. Halle Bailey, who is already winning rave reviews for her portrayal of the titular little mermaid, Ariel, wore a spectacular metallic gown by Valdrin Sahiti. With its seashell cups and iridescent surface, it couldn't have been a more appropriate choice for the world premiere.
Melissa McCarthy, meanwhile, matched the carpet with her puff-sleeved, fringed dress, worn with peacock blue gloves and pointed pumps. Oh, and a dusting of diamond rings. Ursula would approve.
Simone Ashley - who plays the mermaid Indira, Ariel's sister - bucked the trend for blue with a hot pink mini dress by Atelier Versace. And finally, Awkwafina, who voices one of the most beloved characters, Scuttle, wore a burnished jacket and skirt by Simone Rocha. We want to be part of their world.
