Hailey And Justin Bieber Had A Serious Style Makeover For Their Trip To Paris

Taking on (probably) the chicest city on earth, the Biebers have upped their style game.

It’s been home to Josephine and Napoleon Bonaparte, Simone De Beauvoir and Jean Paul Sartre, Brigitte Bardot and Roger Vadim, no wonder Paris is said to be one of the most romantic places in the world. It’s also one of the most intimidatingly chic.

Unsurprisingly, when those A-list couples not blessed with French nationality head to the City of Lights they feel the pressure not just to show the world how ludicrously lustful they are for one another, but flex their style credentials too. Remember Kim and Kanye back in 2014? Shortly before their Florentine nuptials, the couple descended on the French capital and turned the paved streets of the 1st arrondissement into their own private catwalk show, replete with high-fashion, high-ticket looks from the likes of Balmain, Givenchy and Céline. Every directional shoe, artfully draped coat and knockout diamond announced: ‘Nous sommes arrivés’.

And while Kim and Kanye continue to court the fashion world, Kimye the couple are no more. But there is, inevitably, another paparazzi-bait pairing waiting in the wings, ready to snatch their column inches and take on Paris – and this time it’s the Biebers. The A-List power couple is dead, long live the A-List power couple.

Hailey and Justin Bieber are currently in Paris. In case you missed it (how?) Justin posted a captionless picture of him and his wife with French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron (why? Don’t know, but it is a meme waiting to happen).

What is clear is that they have got the Paris glow-up memo. Rather than opt into clichés however, they have given French sophistication (and, oui, sexiness) a laidback Cali spin. Another North American export – Emily Cooper – would be advised to take note. This is how you do it.

So, Hailey’s knockout looks include LaQuan Smith’s biscuit coloured cocktail dress – giving a cheeky side of sass courtesy of the ab-baring cut outs – a monochrome lilac ensemble (including one of her ever-present Bottega Veneta bags) and The Attico cargo pants with a cropped white shirt. Justin meanwhile, has been noticeably de-slumbroed. The hoodies and chinos are still there, but the fits are more streamlined. He is looking grown-up but not dated. The pin-striped Celine suit with a tie-less shirt and Nike sneakers was the perfect Cali/France, skate/sophis, high/low mashup. J’adore.

For both Hailey and Justin there is a smattering of French brands, suggesting the art of diplomatic dressing isn’t just reserved for royals. For her Jacquemus; for him, Balenciaga and Celine. ‘How do we always coordinate so perfectly?’ Justin’s stylist Karla Welch mused on a picture posted by the woman behind Hailey’s looks, Maeve Reilly. Just chalk it down under ‘meant to be’ and another A-list Paris love story.

Kendall Jenner's outfit of an itty-bitty mini, tank top, leather coat and knee-high boots is a roll call of '90s hits. Too retro? As if!

No one has ever looked this glam in an underground carpark, but that's because Kylie Jenner, queen of out-out style, wore a little pink shirt dress from Valentino.

You might be hearing alarm bells at the thought of a bustier top, but, paired with high-waisted jeans or a silky slip skirt, it might just be the look of summer 2021.

Nobody does back garden dressing quite like Tracee Ellis Ross. This tomato red suit (thrown over the gate by her stylist Karla Welch) is pure magic.

If you're not going to go short, why not opt for some flirtatious keyhole cut-outs à la Victoria Beckham, who wore her gathered jersey dress for a mirror selfie.

It's all about the contrast between a pair of short-shorts and a prim poplin button-down on Alexa Chung. Bonus points for sheer tights (sexier than opaque).
