There's no denying that the modelling scene is a hell of a lot more interesting right now than it was five years ago. Fashion has both evolved and diversified and with it comes a slew of inspirational, original models, particularly from Britain, who we kind of want to be mates with, just as much as want to look like.

One such girl is Harmony Boucher, a model - she's walked for Christopher Kane - and singer with 4-piece Vuvuvultures. Hailing from North London where she lives with her wife, Nicole, Elite London's Harmony may look badass, but acts nice - and has awesome style to boot. Which is why we have no problem at all paying homage to her supercool androgynous style for this week's installment of The Debrief Dissects.

1. Know what works for you

'Day to day I live in army boots, black jeans, shirt, hoodie and blazer,' explains Harmony, who cites slick androgynous labels such as Givenchy and YSL and Adidas Classics' as favourites. Try & Other Stories for great blazers.

2. A tomboy can be a lady, too

'I have always been a tomboy. But, you know, I am a lady and I like feeling like one - even if it's just for special occasions. I feel overdressed when I wear a dress, but I do love getting my legs out! This spring I'm going to try and wear a bit more silk.' Try the Virgin silk shirt by Marina London, which has an angled hemline for more interest.

3. Find your own interpretation of eveningwear

'I'm not sure I can get away with a bow tie as I look a bit like a waitress - but a buttoned up shirt is definitely my go-to.' Harmony loves menswear label Brutus for shirts, whilst Olive Clothing has some really interesting menswear-inspired shirts. Oh and we totally think she can get away with a bow tie. And so can you. Channel Emma Stone (er, minus the polkadots) and try a discreet black bowtie (with secret jazz hands) like this Saint Laurent sequinned one.

4. Long hair isn't for everyone

'I think hair is high maintenance unless it's shaved. The first time I shaved my head was when I was 9 years old. I've tried to grow it once but with such thick hair I just look like an ancient Egyptian character,' explains Harmony. 'It's great to be able to try out stuff and know that if you mess it up you can cut it off! I've definitely toned down the crazy colour in the past few years though. I'm now brunette. No more rainbow hair for Harmony.'

5. I love a woman in a suit

'I'm inspired by strong suited and booted women who have the stage presence to capture a whole room. When I'm on stage it's more about the music than the fashion, but if I could afford it then I would live in tailored suits.' Hear hear, Harmony. Try this tailored jumpsuitfrom Joe's Jeans, which looks exactly like a sharp suit, but costs a fair bit less.

6. Don't try and be someone you're not

'I don't feel pressure as a model, style wise, just to be a more 'fashion-fied' version of myself,' says Harmony. 'Which pretty much just means a more expensibe version of your personal style, anyway.' So being true to your own style is key, then? Yuh huh. 'Style is an expression of yourself so don't follow the footsteps of others. Take influence, but don't cop; there's nothing worse than a sketchbook cool look. No matter how cool you are.'

So yeah, like we said. All hail Harmony.
